Indonesian economy under SBY era.

On July 8th, 2009, election for electing Indonesian president period 2009-2014 was over. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, or famous as SBY has been elected for the second term by more than 60 percent of Indonesian people. In this term, SBY is accompanied by Budiono, a prominent economist, as vice president.
What is the biggest task of this couple in five years to come? The answer is economy.
By not abandoning other aspects such as politic, legal, and culture, I consider economy is still the most important task that must be completed by SBY and Budiono.
From macro economic viewpoint, the result of SBY in last five years (2004-2009) was impressive. GDP was double, from 2,500 trillion rupiah in 2004 to about 5,000 triliun rupiah in 2009. In nominal term, the average growth was 20 percent per annum. Or if it was deducted by the inflation in five years that was about 40 percent, than the average real growth was 12 percent.
However, if we are going further, still many things that should be handled by these couple. About 15 percent of Indonesia people are still live under poverty line. Economic infrastructure is lag behind Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand. The health and education condition are still need to be improved. Distributing of wealth, increasing the level of tax ratio, improving investment condition, job opportunity, world market penetration, developing of financial market, increasing the tourist visit, improving the quality of agricultural sector, cooperation under ASEAN plus3, and the role in G20 forum.
Therefore, the next coming five years is becoming a heavy milestone. Please be tough, and strong. Indonesia is waiting for the better result.
